A Christmas décor is a big part of the season. It is something that is never missed out on. It is actually one of the first things that everyone thinks of and the whole family is excited about. Over the years of putting up the Christmas décor together, a family never loses the enthusiasm especially the children. Aside from the tradition of choosing the tree and adorning it, you can introduce a new activity that will soon translate to a fun tradition within the family and that is building a Christmas village. And here is a guide for starters.

1. Map out the plan. Call a family meeting and brainstorm about the theme that you can build your village around. The nativity scene is a common choice. And your members can surely come up with more ideas.

2. Collect the materials. If you have already decided on a theme for your village, decide on how big or small it will be. The size and shapes of the pieces you have to use is dependent on this decision. Then, list the thing you would need. Divide the task among the family members so everyone can work on his/ her own contribution.

3. Building the village. This is the fun part. You will have to work on building the village as a family and this will put your creativity into good use. The most basic thing I the foundation. It has to be strong enough to support the size and the weight of your decorative pieces. Arrange the items according to the plan. And you can also add a few more pieces until the Christmas countdown ends.
